Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. As a child within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at the time in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Two years later she became General Correspondent at NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was appointed chief congressional correspondent in the year 1992. was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates in the 1988 debate between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for her outstanding performance in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered The White House first for NBC News between 1981-1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of interesting stories including the Iran-contra affair and budget tax reform. Mitchell traveled with President Ronald Reagan on numerous trips to world summits and reported often.
